BEWARE! THE ULTIMATE BSO!

Filed under: Questions and Answers — Practice Success @ 8:26 pm

Ok, you’re probably wondering what a BSO is.  It’s a “bright shiny object” -something that attracts you and which detracts from your primary focus (starting your practice).  These BSO things are everywhere.  They are the books you want to read, the TV show (Law and Order, CSI) you have to watch, the places you want to hang out.  They are everything and anything that keeps you from doing what you need to do in order to start your practice and make it successful.

And I have just found the ultimate BSO – It’s called “Second Life” and it’s a virtual reality world where you create your image (called an “Avatar”) and where you can wander around and buy things and chat with people and generally waste tons of time.  It has some beautiful places that look almost real, and it has some dangerous stuff (like casinos).  I found it yesterday and I finally had to call a halt.  Today  I wandered around a little more and decided it had to quit.  It’s a bit like the late 1980s when Nintendo came out and I sent my kids to bed and ended up playing all night.  I had to give it up completely.

Some people are addicted to cigarettes or candy or drugs or something; I can become addicted to these computer games, so I don’t play.  I originally wanted to get on there to see if I could sell books.  I don’t see at this time that this will work.  Maybe later.

Anyway, if you want to get on, go to “secondlife.com” and have fun.  But beware of the BSO.
