If you are like me, you can find lots of excuses to waste time. Writing emails. Checking stuff out on the web – my worst time-waster is Wikipedia (www.wikipedia.org ) which has information about nearly everything in the world. Two other recent time-wasters:
1. I’ve discovered lots of blogs about all kinds of interesting subjects. And I can click on “Google this” and get the blog postings delivered to me in my customized Google home age (another time-waster here). Then instead of writing blogs and articles to promote my business I end up checking out these blogs, which of course lead to other blogs, etc. etc.
2. Second Life.com – Don’t go here – it’s terribly addictive. I would say it’s a cross between a high level video game, a chat room, and QVC. No kidding. You get to choose an avatar (image to represent you), then you can buy clothes for the avatar, and you can buy land (if you have enough money), and start building stuff. See what I mean?
THEN, I ran across a web site that showed me how much money I was losing by all this time-wasting stuff. You input your annual salary, number of weeks you work a year, and number of hours you work a week. I’d guess I am losing over $100 an hour by these time-wasters.
